Fireclay Farmhouse Sinks

Yes. The body is fired at 1280°C (2336°F) — far above anything a kitchen produces — so thermal shock from boiling pasta water, kettle water or stock poured straight into the basin is not a concern. The same fired body shrugs off hot cookware set down inside the bowl.

A properly fired body does not crack under normal use — it resists thermal shock, impact and daily wear. The failures we see in the field come from three causes: over-tightened disposal mounting, a very heavy object dropped from height, or transit damage from thin packaging. Our cartons are foam-lined and drop-tested, and the fired apron is part of the body — there is no enamel coating to chip through to bare metal.

Porcelain is fired at lower temperatures and is softer; it stains, scratches and chips sooner, which is why porcelain basins are mostly a bathroom specification. Many "porcelain" kitchen sinks are actually coated cast iron or steel — chip the coating and the substrate is exposed. Fireclay is the kitchen-grade version of the idea: denser body, harder fired surface, glaze fused to the body rather than sitting on it.

The fired surface is non-porous and glass-smooth, so mineral deposits sit on top instead of bonding into pits — a wipe with a soft cloth and diluted vinegar dissolves limescale without abrasive cleaner. There is no special coating to maintain and nothing to reseal on a schedule.

Match the base cabinet to the sink's overall width: 24-inch sink to a 27-inch base, 30-inch to a 33-inch base, 33-inch to a 36-inch base, 36-inch to a 39-inch base. The apron replaces the cabinet face, so this pairing matters more than with any other format — every model page prints overall width and minimum base cabinet side by side so both numbers travel together.

A true apron-front farmhouse sink is designed for a cabinet with an open apron cut-out, not a standard countertop drop-in hole. If the worktop already has a cut-out and you want to keep it, our inset CD series gives you the same fireclay body in an overmount (top-mount) format without the apron.

A 33-inch body is a two-person lift and needs an internal support frame inside the sink base — a 2×4 ladder carries the full weight of sink plus water, with the load landing on the cabinet structure, never on the countertop edge or the caulk line. Plan the frame before the sink ships; the install itself is routine for any fabricator who has hung one before.

Glossy white is the core finish, with matte black, slate gray and dual-color (white bowl with a colored apron) options on selected models. For volume programmes we cast and glaze in custom OEM colors — the glaze is fired into the body, so custom colors carry the same durability as the standard range.

Decades — the material is the reason farmhouse sinks earned their reputation in the first place. The vitrified body does not rust, dent or delaminate, and because the glaze is fired into the surface there is no coating lifecycle to expire. Most replacements we see are style changes, not material failures.

Yes — everything in the grid above is available under your brand. We cast and glaze in custom OEM colors, apply your logo, develop model-exclusive apron patterns, and pack to your retail spec. First orders start at 100 pieces per model; the full customization scope, lead times and programme structure are on the OEM page.

Every sink ships in a foam-lined, drop-tested carton with the bottom grid and basket strainer bagged inside the bowl — the packaging is designed around the two failure points of a fired ceramic body in transit: corner impact and face compression. Container loading plans are part of the order documentation; transit testing reports are available on request.

We specialize in fireclay, so our answer is specific: fireclay gives you a thick glazed body, a warmer look and a quieter bowl, while stainless gives you a lighter, thinner panel. If your programme calls for stainless farmhouse models, we are not the right source for that line — we only manufacture ceramic and fireclay.
